Let’s handle some theology today!

“For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.” 2 Peter 2:20-21

The 2nd chapter of Peter is a large pill to swallow for sure. Here we read of what seems to speak of one who has tasted salvation but is soon lured away. On one side of the aisle, we have Arminians who would say they were actually saved but lost their salvation. On the other Calvinists would say the person was never saved in the first place. Which is it? Let’s consider this has been an argument for years debated by much smarter people than you or I. So, what should we believe or what should we do?

First, pray… let Holy Spirit reveal to you what He’s speaking to you. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, and the Word of God says He will teach you (1 John 2:27). Second, I believe the trap of the enemy is to divide the church is sects of belief (1 Timothy 6:4). Instead of dividing over this we should allow this dichotomy to encourage and stir us up to pray, love, and care for our neighbor.

Spiritual wrestling is a good thing when it leads us to evangelism and discipleship. Physical wrestling only leads us into wrestling with each other. Are you physically wrestling or spiritually wrestling? We can have this dichotomy in the church and still be Jesus minded and kingdom driven. So, let the Lord guide you in this and let His answer encourage us to each share His great name today!
