Throughout the Bible we can see the character of God. As we read, we see the Father’s character and it’s in knowing Him deeply our lives are transformed.

Paul writing to the Corinthians encourages radical generosity. He gives an example of the church in Macedonia rejecting a scarcity mindset and being radically generous (v1-4). Giving this gift Paul sees the character of the Lord living through them. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9

Yes, this chapter is about giving financially. But even more than giving we see the character of God shining through believers like you and me. It’s not about Paul or the church in Macedonia. No matter what good is written about it’s never about the person either. It truly is about the character of the Lord shining through in the Scriptures. Their generosity through poverty was an example of Jesus’ character living in and through them. “Every good thing given, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” James 1:17

Today, shine the character of Jesus. As we read the Bible, we see His character shine through giving hearts, sacrificial lives, etc., etc. Will you let your life be evidence of the character of God? It’s His goodness that brings us to repentance. Let’s shine His character and His great name today.
