“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” - Jesus
Paul concluding his letter to the church writes about his authority, “…according to the authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction.” II Corinthians 13:10 partial
Authority given by the Lord is for edification, not destruction. How do you use the authority you have? To strength, encourage, empower or to weaken, discourage, or hold back? You have authority as a parent, mom, and dad! You have authority in your workplace, manager, or team leader! You have authority in the church, ministry leader or lay person! What will you do with it?
Today, is the day we empower those around us even if we don’t understand their perspective or vision. Today, is the day we equip, empower, encourage, and strengthen for the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus.
