When things become hard, we can often be tempted to take shortcuts.

“And Solomon had all these articles made in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze was not determined.” 2 Chronicles 4:18

Solomon spared no expense or detail in building the first temple. After many failings and Israel’s captivity there was a second temple was built. We read of some mourning (Ezra 3) because there was no comparison to this temple Solomon had built.

No modern tools. No modern technology. As we read thru the description of items made can you imagine how difficult this would have been? The detail of the decor hammered and molded into place. Yet, even as difficult as it would have been they didn’t take a shortcut in the work of the Lord.

Today, in our society we take shortcuts every day. We tend to favor making things cheaper and quicker. We’re interested in production more than quality. Quality isn’t important as ease to produce. We forget what we do is worship to the Father.

The Lord has given us our gifts, abilities, and time. We aren’t building a physical temple but a spiritual kingdom, His Kingdom. This isn’t easy at times. Building relationships to share His love take time and investment. It’s inconvenient at times. Be thoughtful in your dealings with people and in situations. Don’t take the shortcut. A cup of coffee or sharing a meal goes a long way into developing relationships to share the power of the Gospel. Our breath, heartbeat, resources, and time are on loan from the Father. What will do you with what’s been loaned to you? Don’t shortcut your investment to the Kingdom of God.
