The strongest buildings start with the greatest foundations.

“Now Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. And he began to build on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.” 2 Chronicles 3:1-2

Are you aware of what happened on the threshing floor of Ornan? David had sinned against the Lord. The Lord told David to make an offering on this threshing floor. David purchased the threshing floor and made an offering to the Lord. He repented of His own way of thinking. (2 Samuel 24). And now we read this is where the foundation of the temple is built.

Whatever you build in life must start with your repentance towards the Lord. You can conquer great things, even great things in the name of Jesus, but it means nothing without turning to the Lord. When we repent it actually means “about face”. We don’t turn to the other things, people, or activities to save us… we turn solely to Christ. We change our mind about who He is and what He’s done, we turn our hearts, minds, and souls to Him. That’s repentance. What are you building your life on? Your good deeds? Your own works? None of those save you. None of those give you life. Jesus can. Jesus will.

Life was built on the foundation of repentance for Solomon and David. May your life be built on the same foundation. “…that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.” Acts 26:20
