Does He have your attention? Are you listening? Have you rejected? Are you counting the cost?
Joash reigns for years doing what was right in the sight of the Lord. As soon as Jehoida dies the influence he had over Joash was replaced with the opposite (v15-16). Leaders of Judah influenced idol worship. What does the Lord do? “Yet He sent prophets to them, to bring them back to the Lord; and they testified against them, but they would not listen.” (2 Chronicles 24:19). Even when the Lord sends Jehoida’s son to minister to Judah they respond horribly. “So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord.” 2 Chronicles 24:21
The Lord tried to get their attention. Yet they didn’t listen and rejected Him. They didn’t count the cost of following the Lord.
The Bible says the Lord isn’t slack... but longsuffering not willing that any should perish but all should come to repentance. There’s no season in history where He hasn’t tried to get people’s attention. Today, He is trying to get ours. Are you giving Him your attention? Are you listening for His voice? If not, pray. Call out to Him. Give Him your attention. Spend time with the Lord.
