So, you made a mistake, you’ve sinned, now what?!

Jehoshaphat joined with someone he shouldn’t have yet the Lord delivered him still. As he returns the Lord sends a messenger saying, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you. Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.” 2 Chronicles 19:2-3

Old J made a mistake, he sinned, but noticed the Lord wasn’t there to shame him but correct him. Afterwards the Lord continued to use him and minister to him.

What goes on in your mind when you botch it? Shame, guilt, condemnation? How do you view the Father and His response? Hebrews 12:7-8 says, “If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.”

Chastening isn’t what you’re thinking. It’s correction for sure but it’s done in a way to teach and nurture. The Lord doesn’t use shame, guilt, or condemnation to correct. His correction comes with growth and strengthening. We all need to learn from our mistakes and sins. Stop letting mistakes and sin stop you from moving forward. There’s never a time where our loving Father wants us to stop growing and moving forward and deeper with Him. Come to the Father, talk with Him, let Him minister to you, and move forward in Christ. “for in Him we live and move and have our being…” Acts 17:28
