What do you do when you’re on the right path, but hard things seem to keep happening?

Abijah dies and his son reigns in his place. Asa is in a tear. We read, “Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God,” 2 Chronicles 14:2

-He removes altars to other gods

-He tears down places used to oppose God

-He destroys idols

-He institutes God’s laws

-He builds cities of prosperity

-He raises up a strong military

Success is found with Asa. He is on the right path. But then the unthinkable happens. “Then Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.” 2 Chronicles 14:9

What happens when you are on the right path and opposition comes your way; do you question God and His goodness? His plans and purposes for you?

Look at Asa’s response, “And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!” 2 Chronicles 14:11

May we be people who run to the Father and not away from Him when trouble comes our way. Opposition doesn’t change the character and goodness of the Father. But even more we can cry out to Him. “Help! I find rest in You. It’s nothing for You to help.” Remember this in your day of trouble. That could be today. If so, run to the Father. Cry out of Him. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
