Let’s finish with some practical thoughts in the Bible for us to obey…

“Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.” 1 Timothy 6:1-2

A bondservant was someone who worked to pay off a debt in most instances. As long as it took for the debt to be paid, they served. Paul tells them to HONOR their master's so that “doctrine may not be blasphemed”. If one did happen to be a believer, they served it benefited the kingdom of God. How can we apply this today?

Listen, the way we work and handle ourselves with those around us gives life to the doctrine we believe. We all have bosses or leaders over us, some believers in Jesus and others not, but as we live out a submitted life to Jesus, we live out our doctrine of belief. We share the good news of Christ and Christ crucified! And when our bosses or leaders are believers, it benefits the kingdom of God. Our pursuit shouldn’t be the love of money, but… “But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:11-12

Is your work life an example of Jesus sacrificed life? How you relate to others in your workplace says a lot about what you believe about Jesus and His Kingdom. Let’s give them Jesus!
