Hint: It always helps to read the chapter before the devo. We're going chapter-by-chapter thru 1 Samuel right now. Today chapter 3.

Thru the prayers of Hannah and her faithfulness to the Lord her son Samuel is raised up and honors the Lord. Eli's sons were given the same opportunity as Samuel, but only Samuel chose obedience. Now, as the Lord speaks Samuel obeys.

What's the result? "Thus Samuel grew and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fail. All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord." 1 Sam 3:19-20

There was evidence of the Lord's presence upon Samuel. And that's how it should be for us as well. We can succeed in all the world has to offer but carrying the Lord's presence everywhere we go is life changing and others transforming. It's the Spirit of God who establishes and does the work in and thru us. All else will fade, but His presence is everlasting. In order to hear from Him we must first listen. Are you sitting in the presence of the Lord? May we carry the Lord as we go about our day and as we interact with the world around us. That's the mission. Holy Spirit speak to us and use us!
