Are you soft?

We come to a moment where David and Saul become very close in distance, but the tables are turned. David is able to sneak up on Saul. Even though Saul would murder David in this instance David doesn't do the same. David's men even encourage him to do so saying, "Behold, this is the day of which the Lord said to you, 'Behold; I am about to give your enemy into your hand... " 1 Sam 24:4

But there was something else in David's heart, "It came about afterward that David's conscience bothered him because he had cut off the edge of Saul's robe." 1 Sam 24:5

David had a soft heart for loving God and others even in difficult situations. He was sensitive to the Lord's leading. He didn't allow others or the odds being against him to harden his heart.

Let's be honest this is hard. We get offended, hurt, and are challenged by our circumstances at times. What if we choose to pray, seek the heart of Jesus, and trust Him to be our avenger no matter the situation? What would life look like for us? What kind of witness would we be for the gospel's sake? Let's be soft... soft hearted! It's the place where God is most glorified.
