Father, this morning I pray for our hearts. Strengthen us and help us to keep our hearts from jealousy, bitterness, and offense. Many things will happen today and I pray we will meet each moment with Your heart for people and to further Your kingdom. In Jesus name, amen!

"Why then will you sin against innocent blood by putting David to death without a cause?" 1 Sam 19:5

Jonathan, Samuel, and Michal help David to escape the wrath of Saul. It's came to the point Saul has allowed jealousy and bitterness into his heart. James writes, "For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing." James 3:16

When our will becomes more important than the Father's, even in the little things, we allow selfishness into our hearts. It not only turns us against His will but often turns us against those who love us the most. Pray. Seek the Lord. Make sure today His purpose and will are your priority. It's a dangerous thing to allow selfishness, bitterness, and jealousy to take root in our hearts. "Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life." Proverbs 4:23
