David continues to be successful as he's obedient to the Lord and King Saul, but Saul becomes jealous and acts on that jealousy. Side note: We need to be careful to not allow the seed of jealousy to grow in our hearts. Saul did and it was a part of his downfall.
Not only does David have enemies as a soldier, but now even the King of Israel has made himself his enemy. Even in the midst of this we read of David, "So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and prospered... David was prospering in all his ways for the Lord was with him... and it happened as often as they went out, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul. So his name was highly esteemed." 1 Sam 18:8,14,30
David was walking with the Lord. Even though opposition arose the Lord carried David thru it. The character of God is the same today as it was then. "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?" Rom 8:31
Come on, let's trust the Lord. As we walk with Him we are walking wisely and the Lord is carrying us as well. There's nothing that can come against us so let's go!
