Be confident...

There's a stark difference between Saul and his son, Jonathan. On one hand Saul's counting the number of his men, sitting around under trees, wishy-washy about seeking the Lord, and putting unjust burdens on his people. What do we see about Jonathan? "Then Jonathan said to the young man who was carrying his armor, "Come and let us cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; perhaps the Lord will work for us, for the Lord is not restrained to save by many or by few."" 1 Sam 14:6

Did it make sense for Jonathan to go against a number of Philistines? Probably not... yet he trusted the Lord for victory. On the other hand Saul was trying to rationalize what he should do. There are times to count the cost, but what about stepping out in faith as the Lord leads? Is the Lord leading you to a step of faith? Remember it's steps of "faith" which means sometimes you're not going to know the outcome.

We are called to a life of faith. This could be reaching out to our neighbor, praying with a friend for the first time, or making that change Holy Spirit has placed on your heart. But know this... "He can save by many or few." Be confident in the Lord!
