Save us from ourselves...
The Philistines throughout Israel's history during this time continued to plague them. Jonathan attacks them and Saul takes credit. Not only does Saul take credit for the attack he also take things into his own hands, "So Saul said, "Bring to me the burnt offering and the peace offerings." And he offered the burnt offering." 1 Sam 13:9
When asked why he did something he knew he wasn't supposed to do Saul says, "Because I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the appointed days, and that the Philistines were assembling at Michmash," 1 Sam 13:11
Situation occur where our backs are against the wall. What we do in those moments show our true character and who we trust. We will be held accountable for our actions and beliefs. We won't be able to make excuses or talk about what others did. Saul had instructions... and so do we!
Father, save us from ourselves. Even today where we've willingly became ignorant as I pray this open our eyes. Help us to see You, the truth, and to submit ourselves to Your will. We need You more than ever and as the church we need to be the light of Jesus more than ever. In Jesus name, Amen!
