Father, I pray for each person reading this. You know their heart & thoughts. My prayer is for us to grow in humility. Help us to not be so dependent on ourselves & the posture of our hearts to be open before You.
As Peter closes this letter to the churches scattered abroad he reminds them, "Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:5-7
I heard a teaching recently about our heart posture before Jesus. Pastor Jason said, "...if you guys struggle to listen to people there's a high probability you struggle to listen to God. Just like humility before God will always be humility before people. You're not going to be humble before God and be a prideful person on earth."
May our heart posture be before the Lord what Peter encouraged here in the scriptures. Let's take time to sit with Jesus. Let Holy Spirit bring an increase of humility in our hearts and let humility be our witness on the earth.
