Always be ready! But what about hope?

“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;” 1 Peter 3:15

I quote a portion of this verse frequently. Maybe you do as well. Always ready to answer for the hope within you. We focus on being ready to answer and yes that’s important. But in order to give an answer to something one must first pose a question.

Do you live out HOPE? What I mean is do people see you have hope in desperate matters. When the rest of the world would be hopeless are you exhibiting hope? In order to give an answer, we must first live out that hope.

No matter how hard life gets. No matter the difficulty of days. No matter the bleakness of the moment. HOPE!

We read in Hebrews that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.” We must first live out our hope in order to give an answer for it. People should see hope beyond our moment, hope beyond suffering in this world, and hope beyond the darkness. Christ suffered for our sake to empower us to live for His sake. Let’s live out hope in a lost and dying world.
