One life. One story. What will the story of your life tell others around you?

John spent his whole life saying, writing, and doing the same thing. History tells us John was the only disciple who died a natural death. He was put in isolation for a period of his life on the island of Patmos because of his commitment to Jesus. He was also boiled in oil but lived through it and now writes this letter in old age.

“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” I John 2:1-2

He says the same thing he’s said his whole life. Turn to Jesus. Turn away from how you use to live. He goes and says he isn’t bringing anything new to the table, abide in Jesus and love your brother. If for some reason you fail at this return to Jesus.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus… isn’t it crazy that followers of Jesus have been saying the same thing Jesus said from the beginning… LOVE GOD… LOVE PEOPLE. If we get up tomorrow for Turkey Day and choose to love God and love people, we won’t sin and we fulfill the call of Jesus on our lives. Will you choose that? What will you story be tomorrow? Friday? This week? This month? This year? This decade? Your lifetime?

Same story, different day… I pray that our lives tell the story of God’s grace, mercy, and love. That’s the story worth telling and nothing else you or I do will ever compare.
