As we finish our reading of the genealogies, we read in chapter 9 about specific responsibilities of families and individuals. Notice some key words.

“So all Israel was recorded by genealogies, and indeed, they were inscribed in the book of the kings of Israel...” I Chronicles 9:1

“All those chosen as gatekeepers…the seer had appointed them to their trusted office.” I Chronicles 9:22

“The gatekeepers were assigned…” I Chronicles 9:24

“For in this trusted office…” I Chronicles 9:26

“…they had the responsibility, and they were in charge of opening it every morning.” I Chronicles 9:27

“Some of them were appointed…” I Chronicles 9:29

All were recorded. We see the words chosen, appointed, trusted, assigned, and responsibility when the family of God is discussed. Do you know what is said of the church today in the New Testament? “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” I Peter 2:9-10

It could be sharing a meal with a brother/sister in the faith, praying for and with those hurting or in disbelief, practically serving or giving, or spiritually encouraging or sacrificing but no matter what it may be are you doing your part? The Father’s purposes are for you and I to walk out and no one is more important than another. What you do today in the name of Jesus is life giving. Be a light in the darkness. You’ve been chosen, appointed, trusted, assigned and given responsibility from the Father above!
