King David and the Israelites were corrected for not transporting the Ark of God appropriately. “For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.” I Chronicles 15:13

Now, looking unto the Lord, David and the Israelites bring the ark of the Lord to Israel. Picture hundreds of people walking together behind the ark. Some playing stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals singing loudly with joy in their heart (v16-17). The smell of sacrifice and offerings fill the air as the people are praising and dancing to the Lord. It’s a joyous day indeed. “And it happened, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the City of David, that Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David whirling and playing music; and she despised him in her heart.” I Chronicles 15:29

Consider what the world would think if any of our presidents were seen praising and dancing to the Lord? Somewhere down the line we believed dignitaries couldn’t be undignified towards the Lord. The more important we become the less important it is to humble ourselves before the Lord. David replied, “…Therefore I will play music before the Lord. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight..” II Samuel 6:21-22

Do you take yourself so serious you’ve forgotten to take the Father serious? May we even be more dignified. May we be humble before the Lord. May we worship him without reservation. David in his shortcomings knew how to worship the Father. I hope we do too. With joy, dancing, singing, and shouting… come on and let’s worship the Father! “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.” Psalms 145:3
