There’s a difference between talking about God and talking with God.

“and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul.” I Chronicles 13:3

The “Ark of God” or “Ark of the Covenant” was a symbol of God’s presence. In it was the law of God. It was a physical reminder of the presence and ways of God. It had sat in Kirjath Jearim for years under Saul’s reign. Saul only asked for the ark once during his reign but even when he did it was half-hearted. It wasn’t important to Saul to usher in the presence of God. But it was most important to David as King. Saul talked about God, but David desired to talk with God.

Andy Mineo’s lyrics in “Death to Me” say, “Jesus retreated to speak with his Father, I know that I need it, My career been growing, But tell me where I'm going if my time with God is depleted, God, I'm sorry, I mean it, All I want to do is walk with you but, My priorities wrong, I talk about you more than I talk with you”

What about you? Is it more important to talk about God or talk to Him? There was a big difference between the leadership of Saul and David. One was about talking about God while the other was about talking to God.

May our priority be to be in the presence of the Father and may we walk out what His presence works within us.
