Self-made? Yeah… whatever :). As we continue to read of the numerous men who joined David’s army, we see who made this happen. David was a mighty man himself. His reputation preceded him. Yet it was the Lord who did the making. Why?

1-     (v1) God brought men to David even while he was a fugitive from Saul.

2-     (v2) God gifted the men he sent with talent and valor.

3-     (v18) The Holy Spirit confirmed His leading even when David had questions. “Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the captains, and he said: “We are yours, O David; We are on your side, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, And peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.” So David received them, and made them captains of the troop.” I Chronicles 12:18

4- (v22) God sent men day by day until David’s army was described as being “like an army of God”.

5- (38-40) God provided for the army of men He sent David’s way.

It’s the Lord… it’s the Lord I say!  He is the one who creates us, sends us, calls and confirms us, and provides for us. Do you recognize where you’re at in life is because of the Lord? We can go a lifetime being built up and not recognizing the Lord for it. But, it’s the Lord… it’s the Lord indeed that does the making. No matter how great you might (or think you might be) it’s the Lord who is our Maker, Sustainer, and Provider. May we give Him the glory for who He has made us and how He has equipped us.
