Who are you bringing with you? I’m asking myself this question as I read this section of scripture today. “Now these were the heads of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.” I Chronicles 11:10

We read of men who did some incredible feats under the leadership of David. Some victoriously took on 300 to 1 in battle while others defeated giants, lions, and other great enemies. Yet some of these men started off in dire circumstances, “And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.” I Samuel 22:2

David took these men from low places, poured into them, spent time with them, and fought along side of them. He impacted them for the better.

Jesus did the same thing with the apostles. It is said of the apostles, “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13

What about you and me? Are we spending time pouring into others? It first starts with letting the Holy Spirit pour into us. A wise woman told me recently, “You can’t pour out what you don’t have to give.” In this life we can bring people with us, but it takes spending time with Jesus and spending time with others. I can do it, you can do it, we can do it, so let’s do it!
