What's the point?
As we read the Bible what are you trying to get out of it? Are you looking to see if you are the hero or the one who needs to repent? Hint, the Bible isn't about you or me. Along with its historical outlay it also shares with us the character of the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.
Here is Jonah who has ran away from the Father. Yet, "Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying," Jonah 3:1
Here is a wicked people who have rebelled against the Father. Yet, "Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them." (Jonah 3:5). So what does the Father do? "When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it." Jonah 3:10
This isn't about Jonah, Nineveh, or even us... this is about the Father and His character. Read Jonah 3, pray, and ask the Father to reveal to you the depth of who He is and how He lovingly responds according to His glory. Let's praise Him for His grace and mercy. Let's worship Him for who He is!
