How much grace and mercy have we’ve been witness to or experienced?

Moses tells the next generation all the Lord has done for their nation, even in spite of their rebelliousness at times. He then records specific times the Lord showed His grace and mercy, “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?” (Deuteronomy 4:7). Israel is challenged to walk accordingly to the grace and mercy they’ve been shown (v15) and to pass on the Lord’s grace and mercy to the next generation (v40).

Consider the grace and mercy of the Lord in your own life. Do you talk about and live out the grace and mercy He’s shown you? Jesus told a parable of a servant who was shown mercy by his ruler. In turn he didn’t show the same mercy when dealing with others. His fate was one of dire consequences.

Every day we get to extend the same grace and mercy we’ve experienced. At times my focus is on myself instead of the Lord and I miss the opportunity to show His grace and mercy to others. When I do take the time to realize just how much He has done in my life it’s reflected in how I treat and respond to others… or at least it should :)

Father, here is my prayer…. For myself and for those reading this. Let us meditate on the abundant grace and mercy You have shown us our entire lives… and lead us to share the testimony of Your goodness and the character of Your goodness, in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
