Moses tells Israel, “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 14:2

Do you know what’s said about the church in the New Testament? “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” I Peter 2:9-10

This chapter is records what animals are considered unclean/clean and which ones they could eat. It’s also about the tithe, first fruits of their harvest, and offerings to the Lord. When you consider millions of Israelites were nomads at this time and they would soon be getting accustomed to a new land and home this chapter is more about trust and faith. When we trust the Lord with what we have, the giving our first fruits, and what we eat or don’t eat we’re expressing our faith in the Father. Even during changing or uncertain times. Not only do we get an opportunity to express our faith, but we get to be a witness of His faithfulness and goodness to those around us who don’t know Him. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
