In chapter 12 Moses is basically saying when you take possession of the land the Lord has given you do not worship like they have. Also, destroy the methods of their worship to false gods. The Lord has a different way to worship Him. There’s more detail in the chapter so take a few minutes to read it when you have time.
Moses summarizes this way, “You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.” Deuteronomy 12:31
It’s important to recognize ALL people worship. You either worship the Lord or you worship other gods in your making, but we ALL worship. See, you and me, we were created to worship. It’s a part of who we are. If we aren’t worshiping the Lord, we will be worshiping something or someone else. So… worship today but let your worship be to the Father. “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11
