We’ve went from walking paths to dirt roads and dirt roads to asphalt roads. Today, the roads we have make it more effective to travel more than ever.

Moses is reminding Israel of his second trip to the mountain with God to get the 10 commandments. As he reminds them of the Lord’s commands, he also reminds them of His promise. Notice even at the giving of the law they are told, “So circumcise your heart, and stiffen your neck no longer.” (v16). And he goes on, “For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of Lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. He executes justice for the orphan and the widow and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing. So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt. You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name.” Deuteronomy 10:17-20.

Yes, the law was given but it was given to help us in our relationship with the Lord and others. The first 4 commandments are tied to loving God and the last 6 are tied to loving others. From the start of creation, the Lord has been building the road for us to be more effective in loving Him and loving others. There’s no better time in history to love God and love one another. The road has been built but the question is are you traveling on it? Love God, love others!
