Job's words in Job 24:22-24 reflect a struggle to express his heart fully. His thoughts seem fragmented, like incomplete utterances rather than cohesive ideas. Yet, he arrives at a profound truth: "But God draws the mighty away with His power; He rises up, but no man is sure of life. He gives them security, and they rely on it; Yet His eyes are on their ways. They are exalted for a little while, Then they are gone. They are brought low; They are taken out of the way like all others; They dry out like the heads of grain." Job 24:22-24
In times of pain and confusion, questions naturally arise. Like Job, we may compare our lives to others, notice injustices, and wonder about God's justice and fairness. These questions don't diminish our righteousness before God. In fact, it's healthy to bring our petitions to Him in these moments. God desires to hear from us in our valleys just as much as on our mountaintops.
What does your prayer life look like during hard times? Are you as open with the Father in difficulties as you are in times of ease?
We must remember that some things are beyond our control. In those moments, we pray, seek Jesus, and trust the Father, regardless of our circumstances.
