Hopeless?

Isaiah has prophesied the coming judgment upon Israel. These words were spoken in a time when people did not respond to the Lord's warnings, and the days felt dark and hope seemed distant.

Yet in the midst of that darkness, Isaiah shared a promise of hope: "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." Isaiah 9:6-7

The greatest hope was the future arrival of Jesus. In the midst of dark days, Isaiah reminded the people that David's throne would be forever established and that true justice would one day fully reign.

We now live on the other side of the cross. Every day brings us closer to Jesus' promised return: "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."" Revelation 21:4

No matter the circumstances or trials you are facing in this moment, remember that Jesus fulfills all His promises. He has, does, and always will come through.

Isaiah says twice in this chapter, "But His hand is stretched out still." Spend time today casting your cares and burdens upon the Lord, for He deeply cares for you.
