I need to hear this today, maybe you do too!
Isaiah continues his prophecy concerning the fall of the king of Babylon, along with the coming destruction of Babylon, Assyria, and Philistia. Included in these chapters is the picture of Lucifer's fall because of pride and rebellion against God.
Throughout these proclamations of judgment, one truth shines brightly: God's mercy.
"For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will still choose Israel, and settle them in their own land. The strangers will be joined with them, and they will cling to the house of Jacob. Then people will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them for servants and maids in the land of the Lord; they will take them captive whose captives they were, and rule over their oppressors." Isaiah 14:1-2
Judgment came because of Israel's disobedience, but God also declared their restoration. Through Isaiah, the Lord promised that His people would one day return from captivity. Though they would spend 70 years in Babylon Ezra and Nehemiah record their return, proving once again that God's Word is faithful.
And it still is.
What God says, He will do. What He promises, He will fulfill. His faithfulness has never failed and never will.
So here is the challenge: Do you truly believe that?
Do you believe what God has spoken in His Word? Do you hold tightly to what He has impressed upon your heart in the quiet place of prayer? More importantly, are you spending time there?
Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to be alone with His Father. He trusted the Father's voice, His timing, and His promises. If the Son of God prioritized time alone with the Father, how much more should we?
Today, choose to trust Him. Hold fast to His promises even when circumstances seem to say otherwise. Seek Him in the secret place. Listen for His voice. Walk by faith, believing that the God who has always been faithful will be faithful again.
