Ask yourself deep in your heart of hearts:
What am I chasing?
Who am I really living for?
Solomon had it all. More wisdom, wealth, and power than anyone before or since. Yet even he looked at his life and said: "So I said in my heart, "As it happens to the fool, It also happens to me, And why was I then more wise?" Then I said in my heart, "This also is vanity." Ecclesiastes 2:15
There is no height of success, pleasure, or achievement that Solomon didn't reach. Yet in all his pursuits he said in his heart all was vanity.
Self-focus is the silent killer of a meaningful life. Jesus didn't mince words: "If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me." Luke 9:23
That's where real life is found on the other side of "me." Solomon wrote about himself and the effects selfishness had on him. "Myself" is recorded eight times in this chapter. "I built myself", "planted myself" (v4), "I made myself" (v5 & v6), and "I also gathered for myself (v8) to name a few.
There's so much more the Lord has for us. We sometimes just can't see the forest for the trees. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Step into the mission He's already given you. Yesterday doesn't get the final say, today can still be full. Full of hope. Full of joy. Full of peace. Full of love. All it takes is turning your gaze outward. The Lord wants to use you today. What will you say in your heart? Where will your focus be?
